Vigo-Cies-Vigo
Guided tour with marine biologist who will inform us about actions to follow in the Cies Islands for our presence causes the least possible environmental impact on them. It will focus on waste generation and the marine environment, such as the following measures to be taken:
- Collecting and depositing the waste in paper bins to prevent the wind dispersal.
- Keeping clean sand and rocks of all types of waste.
- If you eat on the beach, pick up the leftovers.
- Avoiding actions that impair water quality.
- On shore and bathing, the wildlife must be respected..
- When diving, take care of the marine environment.
In the national park will have, apart from our guide, a guide form the national park of the Atlantic islands to teach us the secrets of the park and show us one of the best beaches in the world, and the flora and fauna that can be found Cies Islands.
With regard to wildlife, the island is home to one of the largest colonies of Yellow-leg Gull of Europe, the more large colony of Mediterranean Shag, the pioneer couples of Black-back Gull, and the last specimens os sedentary Galician Guyllemots once abundant but nowdays nearly extinct both in the Cies Islands and in the actual Ons Island, this is because it is a species highly sensitive and can not stand to be disturbed or frightened during breeding, so it tends to leave their young chicks and are very hypersensitive to marine pollution. Hence the importance of the explanations of our guide in relation to measures to be taken for their protection and conservation. There are several observation towers, from which we can see this incredible wildlife.
The predominant flora and other species are pines and eucalyptus. Among the shrubs predominate gorse, rockrose and bramble. In all plants, the most important are those that occur in dunes and cliffs, as they are the pioneer plants and higher value because they only occur in this medium and are very scarce. At all times we won't ignore the instructions of our guide for the preservation of the flora of the dunes, taking basic measures can be ensured only by the perimeter and deliminatas gateways for this purpose.
When weather conditions permits us, we will be sailing since in the present world, where the vast majority of things are moving due to the burning of fossil fuels, which is the main cause of climate change, wind power is an ecological alternative and sailing is a healthy recreational and exciting activity.
